On September 22nd The LEAGUE Northeast Ohio held its first annual Ohio School Awards ceremony at the Statehouse in Columbus, OH. The event was hosted by State Rep. Matt Dolan with special guest speaker Charlotte Jones-Ward, Program Director for Learn & Serve Ohio, which operates within the Ohio Department of Education. The 50+ attendees included teachers, students, parents, administrators and community supporters. The LEAGUE students spoke eloquently and with great pride on their service learning and community involvement experiences during the 2008-2009 school year. LEAGUE Service Coaches (teachers) and administrators shared presentations praising the work that The LEAGUE is doing to empower young people to serve.
